The San Antonio First Responders Career & Hiring Expo is a major public safety employment event in one of America's most military-connected and hero-centric cities. Held April 11, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas, this career expo brings together law enforcement agencies, fire departments, emergency medical services, corrections, federal law enforcement, and other public safety employers for a full day of recruitment, networking, and career exploration.
San Antonio is home to multiple major military installations including Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) — one of the largest military complexes in the world — making it one of the top cities in the nation for veterans transitioning into first responder careers. Veterans bring military police experience, combat medical training, logistics expertise, and leadership skills that are perfectly aligned with the demands of civilian public safety careers.
At the expo, candidates can meet directly with representatives from the San Antonio Police Department, Bexar County Sheriff's Office, San Antonio Fire Department, SAPD SWAT, federal law enforcement agencies, and many other regional and state-level agencies. Application information, testing schedules, training requirements, compensation details, and benefits packages will all be available at agency booths.
The event is also an opportunity to network with working officers and firefighters who can provide honest, first-hand insights into what their agencies and communities are really like — information that no brochure can fully convey.
Veterans separating from Joint Base San Antonio are especially encouraged to attend. The VA San Antonio Healthcare System and various veteran service organizations will also have informational presence at the event to assist with transition resources. Admission is free. No pre-registration required. Bring your military ID or DD-214 and dress professionally.
