The Army Ten-Miler is one of the largest ten mile races in the country, and it starts and finishes at the Pentagon. Each October thousands of soldiers, veterans, military families and civilian runners line up together for a course that winds past some of the most famous monuments in the nation's capital.
You will see unit teams running in matching shirts, wounded warriors on handcycles, and families cheering from the sidewalks. The race is run by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, and it has a long history of raising money for soldier and family programs.
It is a great goal race if you are new to distance running, and a fun reunion for anyone who has served. Many people plan a whole weekend around it, catching up with old battle buddies and meeting new ones at the expo and the post race celebration.
Registration is open now, so if you have been thinking about running it, this is the year to sign up and run with the Army.
