U.S. Navy 251st Birthday at The National WWII Museum

  • Tuesday, October 13, 2026
  • 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • The National WWII Museum, 945 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130, New Orleans, LA

The National WWII Museum in New Orleans is marking the Navy's 251st birthday with a day of thanks for those who have worn the uniform. Active duty sailors, reservists, retirees and Navy veterans get free admission to the museum for the day.

It is a chance to walk through the exhibits that tell the story of the Pacific and Atlantic campaigns, see the aircraft and artifacts up close, and share your own memories with family members who came along. At 11:00 AM the Victory Belles will give a free 30 minute performance of classic songs from the era in the US Freedom Pavilion.

If you served in the Navy, this is a good day to bring your kids or grandkids and show them where your service fits into a much longer story. Note that the Beyond All Boundaries film and the Freedom Theater need separate tickets.

Happy birthday, Navy. Come on down and be honored.
