Birmingham is home to America's first and oldest Veterans Day parade, and the tradition continues on November 11, 2026, in the streets of downtown. The celebration traces back to World War II veteran Raymond Weeks, who pushed for a national day to honor all who served, and the city has kept that promise ever since.
Expect marching bands, color guards, military units, veterans groups, floats and classic vehicles rolling through downtown while families line the curbs waving flags. Veterans of every era are welcome to come out, take part or simply be thanked by a grateful crowd.
Groups that want to march can register through the official entry portal until October 31.
