The Thor Detachment of the Marine Corps League is hosting the 251st Marine Corps Birthday Ball at the Hilton Event Center in downtown Rochester. Marines, veterans of every branch, families and friends are invited to celebrate the Corps with a formal evening.
The night includes dinner and a traditional ball program, with the cake cutting ceremony that Marines all over the world share every November. Formal attire or military uniform is expected, so dust off the dress blues.
General admission tickets are $75, children 10 and under are $25, and a VIP table for ten is available. Ticket sales close on October 27, so plan ahead.
For many local Marines this is the one night a year when generations of the Corps sit at the same table. It is a chance to hear the stories, honor those who are no longer with us, and welcome the youngest Marines into a family that lasts a lifetime. Semper Fi.
