The IAFC Hazmat Conference is where hazardous materials responders go to stay current. Fire service hazmat technicians, team leaders and emergency managers meet in Baltimore in June 2027 for several days of focused training.
The program mixes classroom learning, hands on sessions and field trips. Topics cover the full range of hazmat work, including transportation incidents, responder safety, weapons of mass destruction, protective gear, terrorism, mass decontamination and biological threats.
The exhibit floor features outdoor demonstrations of hazmat equipment, so attendees can see detection tools, suits and response vehicles in action rather than just reading about them.
Hazmat calls are rare for many departments, but when they happen the stakes are high for responders and the public. Time spent here helps teams prepare for the incidents they hope never come, and it connects them with peers who have already handled them.
