The Legends Never Die 5K is a deeply meaningful beach run/walk that honors first responders, veterans, and active military while raising critical awareness for PTSD, mental health challenges, and suicide prevention. Organized by the Madeira Beach Fire Department, this event takes place April 12, 2026 on the beautiful beachfront of Madeira Beach, Florida — one of the most scenic race settings on the Gulf Coast.
Whether you run, jog, or walk, the Legends Never Die 5K welcomes participants of all fitness levels. The course winds along the sun-kissed shores of Madeira Beach, creating a powerful visual reminder of what we are running for: the lives of heroes who carry invisible wounds long after their tours and shifts are over.
Proceeds from registration fees and donations directly fund post-trauma training programs for first responders and veterans, providing them with the tools and resources they need to recognize and address mental health crises before they escalate. The Madeira Beach Fire Department has committed to making this event a cornerstone of their community outreach and wellness mission.
The name says it all: Legends Never Die. Those who serve — whether in uniform today or in memory forever — leave a legacy that transcends any individual life. By lacing up your shoes and hitting the sand, you are carrying that legacy forward and sending a message that mental health matters, that no hero fights alone, and that this community stands together.
Post-race festivities include an awards ceremony, community breakfast, vendor fair, and opportunities to connect with local first responders and veteran support organizations. Registration is open to the public. Bring your family, your department, your unit, or your squad — and run for the legends.
