The Lehigh Valley Brush-Up for Veterans 2026 is a community service initiative that mobilizes volunteers to rehabilitate the homes of local veterans throughout the greater Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania. Beginning in April 2026 and continuing through the season, this program provides free exterior painting, minor repairs, and home improvement services to qualifying veteran homeowners who are elderly, disabled, or have limited incomes.
The Brush-Up program recognizes that many veterans — especially older veterans and those living with service-connected disabilities — struggle to maintain their homes due to physical limitations or financial constraints. For these heroes, a deteriorating home isn't just an aesthetic problem: it affects their health, safety, dignity, and connection to their community. The Brush-Up program addresses this gap with hands-on community action.
Volunteer crews including corporate teams, civic organizations, church groups, and individuals gather on designated service days to paint exteriors, repair porches, replace gutters, address weatherization needs, and perform other basic maintenance tasks. All materials are donated or funded through the program — veteran homeowners pay nothing.
Participating as a volunteer is as meaningful as receiving the services. There's something deeply moving about showing up to a veteran's home with a paintbrush and leaving it transformed — knowing that the person inside served this country and that your few hours of work is a tangible expression of gratitude.
The Lehigh Valley Brush-Up for Veterans is coordinated with local veterans' service organizations, county veterans affairs offices, and community development partners. Both volunteer registration and veteran homeowner applications are handled through the program's community partners. Come out and give back to those who gave so much.
