Known as The People's Marathon, the Marine Corps Marathon is organized by the U.S. Marines and takes runners through Arlington and Washington, D.C. There is no prize money here. The whole race is about honoring service and finishing what you started.
Runners pass the monuments, the National Mall and long stretches of cheering crowds, and Marines hand out water and the finisher medals themselves. Many people run in memory of a fallen service member, and the Blue Mile, lined with photos of the fallen, is a moment that stays with you.
The weekend also includes the MCM 8K on Saturday, October 24, so families and friends who are not ready for 26.2 miles can still take part.
Whether you are a veteran, a military spouse, a first time marathoner or someone who just wants to say thank you, this race welcomes you. Come for the miles and stay for the people.
