  • Various venues across Tampa Bay, Tampa, FL

The National Veterans Golden Age Games is America's most celebrated multi-sport competition for senior veterans, and the 40th annual edition takes center stage in Tampa Bay, Florida from June 27 through July 2, 2026. Organized by the VA Tampa Healthcare System in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, this extraordinary event features 21 sports and recreational events centered on the powerful theme of 'Fitness for Life.'

Open to veterans aged 55 and older who are patients of the VA healthcare system, the Games celebrate the resilience, determination, and warrior spirit that never fades — regardless of age. Participants compete in events ranging from swimming, bowling, and cycling to table tennis, horseshoes, golf, and air rifle, providing options for veterans of all physical abilities and interests.

The Golden Age Games are far more than a sporting competition. They are a transformative rehabilitation experience that reconnects veterans with purpose, community, and physical vitality. Studies have shown that participation in adaptive athletics significantly improves mental health outcomes, reduces isolation, and increases overall quality of life for older veterans.

Tampa Bay's world-class venues and vibrant veteran community make it an ideal host for this milestone 40th anniversary edition. Spectators, family members, and community supporters are welcome at most events and are encouraged to cheer on these remarkable American heroes.

For veterans, caregivers, and VA healthcare staff looking to nominate a veteran for participation, details and registration information are available through the VA Tampa Healthcare System. For the public and supporters, spectator schedules and volunteer opportunities will be posted as event details are confirmed. Don't miss this once-in-a-year tribute to the strength and spirit of America's senior veterans.
