National EMS Week Community Appreciation Events 2026

  • Sunday, May 17, 2026
  • 9:00 AM
  • Nationwide – Local EMS Stations & Community Centers, National, US

National EMS Week 2026, observed May 17–23, 2026, is a nationwide celebration honoring the emergency medical services professionals — paramedics, EMTs, first responders, and dispatchers — whose rapid, skilled, and compassionate response saves lives every single day across the United States. Coordinated by the American College of Emergency Physicians in partnership with NAEMSP and local EMS agencies, National EMS Week features thousands of community appreciation events at fire stations, EMS bases, hospitals, community centers, and public venues across all 50 states. These events include open houses where the public can tour ambulances and meet their local EMS crew, public safety demonstrations, CPR and Stop the Bleed training sessions open to community members, awards ceremonies honoring EMTs and paramedics for acts of exceptional service, and wellness and appreciation events for EMS providers who too often give everything to their communities while their own needs go unrecognized. The 2026 theme continues to build on the EMS profession's commitment to innovation, equity, and excellence — acknowledging the extraordinary challenges EMS providers face including high call volumes, mental health strain, low compensation relative to the life-saving nature of the work, and chronic understaffing. Community members are encouraged to visit their local EMS station during this week, bring meals or treats, write thank-you notes, and simply tell the men and women of EMS: we see you, we honor you, and we are grateful. Because when the worst moments of our lives arrive, they are the ones who answer.
